About Melissa
Originally bringing her mid-western good nature from Cleveland, Melissa has lived, worked and raised children in Manhattan over 25 years …. And is definitely now a New York insider! Based on the Upper East Side, she joins the Thors team with knowledge first gained navigating the world of work, young adult life, and rented apartments.
After gaining her BA from Colby College, Melissa thrived in a highly successful, 15 year career in corporate retail buying & strategic planning, first with Saks Fifth Avenue and then Macy’s. It was there she developed her incredible thoroughness, attention to detail, and ability to efficiently and professionally service customer’s needs and desires.
She rose to meet the challenges of raising & schooling children in New York, navigating Co-op apartment boards & school communities, as well as running an entrepreneurial business.
As a passionate foodie and chef, Melissa started her own high end catering firm: “My Friend who Cooks!” to bring a personal touch to special celebrations in some of the most distinguished apartments and townhouses in New York.
Having worked with the most philanthropic and quality obsessed hostesses & families to create generous, happy events, she knows how to listen as well as guide. With honesty, integrity and a positive spirit, she enthusiastically focuses equally on the process of helping a new buyer or selling a valuable family apartment.
As an avid power walker, Melissa frequents the East side esplanade, Central Park, and enjoys exploring neighborhoods all over the city. She particularly loves discovering (and instagramming!) new markets and restaurants.
