Mike Barit is the Founder of KOTA, a top-producing boutique advisory at Compass built on discretion, rigor, and long-term client trust. More philosophy than platform, KOTA was created to deliver thoughtful, highly personalized representation while operating at the highest level of the New York residential market.

Originally from Bermuda, Mike developed an early appreciation for architecture, design, and place — an interest that naturally evolved into a career centered on New York City. Drawn by the city’s energy and complexity, he built a practice grounded in market fluency, clear communication, and strategic execution. What began as a focus on Bermudian investment quickly expanded into a global client base spanning North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America.

Mike advises buyers, sellers, landlords, and investors across Manhattan and Brooklyn, with experience spanning condominiums, cooperatives, townhouses, rentals, and investment properties. He is particularly known for identifying value early, sourcing off-market opportunities, and navigating complex negotiations with calm precision. Clients value his patience, discretion, and ability to simplify high-stakes decisions while fiercely protecting their interests.

At KOTA, Mike operates with a carefully curated network of attorneys, lenders, photographers, designers, and operators, allowing for a white-glove experience without unnecessary noise. The team’s consistent deal volume provides real-time market intelligence, while its boutique structure ensures every client receives direct, senior-level attention.

A lifelong athlete, Mike represented Bermuda internationally in both soccer and sailing, and later played collegiate soccer — experiences that continue to shape his disciplined, competitive, and team-first mindset.

Mike lives in Gramercy and stays active beyond work. He is an avid soccer player, snowboarder, and traveler, and proudly supports Room to Grow, an organization dedicated to supporting new and expecting parents in New York City.
