Ms. McKay is a native New Orleanian and is proud of her Post Katrina contributions to the redevelopment of her beloved city. Ms. McKay coordinated and implemented the development of the first 400+units at Columbia Parc, mixed-income and mixed-use apartment homes. Her activities included working with local agencies and officials, securing and leveraging project financing, and coordinating public and private partners. Ms. McKay served as a consultant partner on the B.W. Cooper mixed-income public housing redevelopment and as project manager for the off-site components of the Iberville Revitalization project, which was awarded a 2010 Choice Neighborhood Initiative award. is the recipient of two Affordable Housing Finance 2011 awards&mdash Best Overall Project and Best Family Project. With this experience Ms. McKay brings to her clients a thorough knowledge of New Orleans' distinctive neighborhoods, construction and development, negotiation skills and relationships with developers.
Ms. McKay has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Houston and a graduate certificate in Urban Development from the University of Pennsylvania. In 2011 Ms. McKay partnered in the market analysis firm, Spark InSites, and has been a certified market analyst. Ms. McKay is currently a licensed Realtor and remains committed to affordable housing and homeownership. Monika is a proud former Trustee of The Greater New Orleans Foundation. In 2020, Ms. McKay proudly accepted Mayor Cantrell's appointment to the Housing Authority of New Orleans (HANO) board.
Ms. McKay spends her free time studying Artificial Intelligence. She teaches other agents how AI can streamline their workflow so that they can spend more time with their clients.
