Nicholas Thornton

Nicholas Thornton is a 4^th generation San Franciscan and a Compass real estate agent. He specializes in representing buyers and sellers, with a particular connection to the City's western neighborhoods, where he is raising his family in the Sunset, and with extensive experience in the highly competitive South Beach, Yerba Buena, and SoMa markets.

A founding member of Goldberg|Group and The Condo Advisory, Nicholas represents buyers and sellers of single-family homes, condominiums, TICs, and co-ops. His extensive condominium experience has shaped a particularly detailed, hands-on approach to real estate that goes beyond specializing in single-family homes alone. Condo transactions often require navigating complex financing, HOA finances and reserves, insurance, special assessments, rental restrictions, and building-specific disclosures, while demanding creative positioning and persistent marketing. Nicholas brings the same level of scrutiny, preparation, and advocacy to every home he represents.

Nicholas grew up in San Francisco alongside his longtime friend and business partner, Justin Goldberg. Today, he lives in the Sunset with his wife and two young children. His family is actively involved in their school community and youth sports. His lifelong ties to San Francisco give him a particular familiarity with the Sunset, Richmond, West Portal, Miraloma Park, Sunnyside, and surrounding western neighborhoods.

Before entering real estate, Nicholas worked in the San Francisco Mayor's Office and for two United States Senators, and then became a mental health therapist at a San Francisco-based nonprofit. These experiences inform his approach to real estate: listening carefully, balancing priorities, navigating difficult negotiations, and guiding clients through important financial and personal decisions.

Nicholas attended Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory and earned his B.A. in Political Science from Seattle University - including undergraduate coursework at Stanford University, and his M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University.
