About Jesse
I grew up in a small waterside town on Eastern Long Island—quaint and coastal—but the moment I discovered Manhattan was just a train ride away, I was hooked. By the time I graduated from Union College, there was no doubt where I was headed next.
I cut my teeth in television, working my way up from coffee runs to producing original programming. That world taught me how to pitch an idea, plan ahead, stay nimble, and never show up late—or unprepared. It was fast, demanding, and exhilarating. But over time, I realized my true calling was elsewhere.
Real estate, it turns out, was the perfect fit—equal parts strategic, emotional, and deeply personal. From day one, I knew I’d found my lane.
After more than 25 years living and working in New York City—across eleven neighborhoods and three boroughs—and now bringing that experience to Fairfield County, I’ve developed an intimate knowledge of the metro area. I’ve bought, sold, leased, and invested in co-ops, condos, and townhouses. I know the process inside and out because I’ve lived it, many times over.
When we work together, you’ll feel that. Every transaction is a full-on family affair—the kind where I’ll pick you up at JFK in a snowstorm if that’s what it takes. I take enormous pride in the fact that my clients tend to stick with me for life.
I’m fortunate to be surrounded by an incredible team. The Shafer Group is a hand-picked collective of smart, tireless, and unflinchingly kind agents working across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Fairfield County. We share a belief in high-touch service, sharp strategy, and good instincts. We’re not just trying to get deals done—we’re trying to get them done the right way, with care, creativity, and clarity. Whether you’re buying your first place, upgrading, relocating, or letting go of a longtime home, our job is to make the complicated feel simple—and the outcome feel just right.
Thanks to the trust of our clients, the Shafer Group is now one of the top 200 teams in the country, with over $1B in career sales, licensed in both New York and Connecticut. I’m also proud to be a Founding Agent at Compass, and part of the company’s evolution from scrappy Manhattan startup to the nation’s largest independent brokerage.
This is more than a job to me. I’m a husband, a dad, and someone who believes real estate is not just about homes—it’s about what matters most inside them. Wherever your next move takes you—New York, Connecticut, or beyond—I’ll help you get there.
