Originally from Boston, Orysia was raised in a Ukrainian community and instilled with a strong work ethic from a young age. After earning her bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University, she worked with the Boston Housing Authority. In 1995, she moved to Washington DC for a role with the Housing Research Foundation before serving as Executive Director for the YWCA National Capital Area, spearheading a program that taught indigent women the construction trade. These roles provided Orysia with valuable insight into handling real estate and housing issues, while confirming her passion to have a positive impact on people’s lives. Her personal experience with homeownership and renovation also provided Orysia with a strong grasp of construction principles.
In her personal life, Orysia loves seeking out the different, the unusual, and the unique - from food and art to clothes and music. She’s a true individual who would rather carve her own path in life than follow the straight and narrow. It’s a pattern that carries into her professional life as well, making a powerful impact throughout DC.
