Paul Carruthers

Paul is an associate at Hyde Real Estate Group, a Compass team built on over $110 million in production and with a high standard for how clients are treated throughout their real estate ventures. What he brings to that standard was built somewhere else first: four decades inside one of the most demanding communications environments in the world, motorsports, where every story has a deadline and every mistake is public. That kind of pressure teaches a person to read a room before it needs reading, to conduct negotiations professionally, and to know precisely what a situation calls for. It’s an uncommon instinct, and one that clients are thankful for when things get complicated.

Paul was born in Sydney, Australia, but spent the majority of his early years traveling through Europe before his family settled in San Diego. It was in San Diego that he was educated, attending high school in the area and later studying journalism at San Diego State. Southern California has been home for the majority of his life. 

He is the father of a son and a daughter, grandfather of three, and lives with his wife, Ashley, in a Chris Abel-designed home on the San Clemente coastline, a house whose architecture reflects the same design sensibility the Hyde Real Estate Group brings to every listing. 

Outside of work, Paul enjoys cycling, running, golf, surfing, and staying close to the water that has shaped most of his life
