About James
James is a key member of two top producing teams with Compass, based in New York City and The Hudson Valley. Recently, he was named a Partner on The Michael Graves Team for his exceptional work in client relations, after successfully closing $35M$ his first year in New York City. In short time, James has built an extensive global network of clients, and has partnerships across the country in markets such as Aspen, The Hampton’s, and Florida. James takes great pride in his ability to use the upmost discretion when it comes to his clients, and specializes in a data driven approach to marketing and selling premiere properties across New York state. His notable sales include the Penthouse at 169 Hudson Street, selling for $16MM in 68 days, and 42 East 81st Street, a 16 foot wide townhouse, selling for $11.5MM. He attributes much of his early success in the real estate industry as a result of key mentorships from top producing agents, Michael Graves and Candy Anderson. 

Prior to joining compass in 2017, James worked for Luhring Augustine Gallery, known for representing top modern and contemporary artist‘s with locations in Chelsea, Tribeca, and Bushwick, Brooklyn. Growing up as the son of a gallery owner, James was able to see the way long lasting relationships were cultivated with artists and clients alike, and the importance of ethical and honest business practices. James has been in close proximity to great artists and has an appreciation for the intersection of luxury real estate and incredible art collections. His brother, Sam Augustine, currently works for Compass in Aspen, Colorado and is consistently one of the top producing agents in the Roaring Fork Valley. He works closely with his brother to cross-market properties and best service his clients.
