Ross Melby Texas-based real estate advisor | Compass | Founder, The Lone Star Advisory
For 17 years, Ross Melby has guided sellers and investors through the most consequential real estate transactions in Texas. Operating within Compass and leading The Lone Star Advisory ā a hand-selected group of advisors built around a single standard of service ā Ross delivers a fully integrated client experience grounded in transparent communication, deliberate marketing, and unbiased counsel. The result is a practice that consistently outperforms the market.
Seller representation across Texas's luxury and high-end segments remains the core of the work. But increasingly, Ross's calendar belongs to the builders, developers, and investors shaping what gets built next. Engagements span the full project lifecycle: site selection and acquisition strategy, product positioning and unit mix analysis, pricing architecture, absorption modeling, and go-to-market planning for new construction and conversion projects. Clients rely on Ross to translate market signal into decisions that hold up under capital scrutiny ā whether the question is what to build, what to charge, or when to launch.
Having closed some of the more nuanced luxury transactions in the Texas market and counseled the developers, investors, and homeowners who shape it, Ross stands at the forefront of a new generation of advisor-led real estate.
Outside the Work
When I'm not working, I'm with Rosie ā my three-year-old English Labrador, and the best decision I've ever made. I rescued Tori my first dog through Lizzy's Hospice Dog Adoption, a charity I continue to support. I thought I was saving a dog. Turns out the dog saved me. Tori was in her senior years and desperately needed a home. She was by my side for the 3 years we had together, and they were her best years.
I'm also still chasing a few dreams that aren't real estate. Someday, I want to open a gallery supporting up-and-coming contemporary artists and sculptors. And somewhere down the road, a small hotel ā because in my mind, art, hospitality, and real estate all do the same thing: they create spaces that move people, tell stories, and reflect who we are.
The rest is still being written, one home and one good person at a time. If you value craft, partnership, and a real relationship over a quick close ā let's grab dinner first and figure out the deal from there.
