Ruth Boyer O’Dea brings nearly twenty-five years of experience to the real estate landscape, garnering consistent praise from clients and colleagues. Her proficiency spans advising clients, skillfully negotiating residential transactions, and expertly preparing properties for the market, all underpinned by an unmatched understanding of the market.
One of Ruth’s distinguishing traits is her commitment to integrating cutting-edge technologies to elevate client experiences and yield exceptional results. Licensed in both Washington state and Washington, D.C., Ruth serves clients coast-to-coast, while fostering global connections.
Ruth came to Whidbey Island after twenty-three years in the Washington, D.C. market. She'll tell you the move is the point. Arriving without assumptions, she leaned into learning the island's particulars from scratch rather than inheriting a set of habits. Her clients get an agent with the transactional discipline of a high-volume East Coast market and a real working knowledge of the things needed to buy, sell or invest in an island property.
For buyers, that means knowing what actually determines whether a Whidbey property is what it appears to be: water availability, septic capacity, bluff setbacks, and permitted work. For sellers, it means pricing from evidence, finding problems before they're deal-killers, and documenting an owner's investment so it reads as value rather than disclosure.
Her experience managing sales at Residences at Salamander – a curated collection of estates homes within the acclaimed Salamander Resort & Spa in Middleburg, Virginia – underscores her ability to navigate prestigious real estate offerings.
A first-generation American, Ruth was raised in central New York, along the St. Lawrence River, and in Palm Beach County, Florida. Her academic journey at Georgetown University resulted in a Bachelor of Arts and a Master in Public Policy. Leveraging her exceptional attention to detail, Ruth played pivotal roles in technological advancements at Georgetown, before transitioning to the private sector for a technology firm.
Since 2002, clients and friends know her as an indispensable partner in their real estate pursuits: achieving homeownership, investing in income-producing properties, and orchestrating optimal sales. Her expertise extends to new construction negotiations, collaborating with builders on behalf of clients, and representing prestigious builders, including Mickey Simpson Builders, Griffin Head Renovation & Design, Sheridan & Associates, and Castlerock Enterprises.
An ICF-certified coach, Ruth’s commitment to guiding clients through decisions is bolstered by her honed listening skills. Beyond her professional pursuits, Ruth is deeply committed to the community, having served on multiple boards.
Outside work and community, Ruth finds joy in spending time with her husband, their dogs, and looking forward to visits from their daughter.
