About Brad
Loyalty, direct and prompt communication, and transactions meticulously executed and ethically negotiated from beginning to end are the hallmarks of Brad’s real estate practice.

Prior to joining Compass, Brad was an associate at Sotheby’s International Realty and Vanguard Properties. He is an associate on one of the Bay Area’s most successful real estate teams, the Jones Group at Compass.

His experience with escrow and title at Financial Title Company and as a mortgage broker with JP Morgan Chase means he knows how to investigate every aspect of a transaction to make sure it moves smoothly and efficiently. He is a member of the San Francisco Board of Realtors, California Association of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors.

A native North Dakotan and former Denver resident, he is thrilled to call San Francisco’s Dolores Park neighborhood home for more than 20 years. He holds a BA in Theatre Arts from Minnesota State University Moorhead. He loves animals and shares his home with two platinum blonde cats, Marilyn and Jane — and is an uncle to many of his associates’ dogs, too.

As a passionate AIDS activist, he supports The AIDS Memorial Grove and has helped raise thousands of dollars for The San Francisco AIDS Foundation by participating numerous times in the AIDS Lifecycle, an annual bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

Testimonials

Amanda and Brad are first class. We were introduced to Amanda through a mutual friend and she transformed our house buying experience. She is knowledgeable, direct, honest, and fun to be around! With Amanda, every step of the process was patient and personal. She took the time at the outset to get to know us--who we were, where we came from, what we like to do, and what factors were important to us in our house-buying search. When we first met her she took us around the city to see different types of places in which we might be interested, and thereafter was always thoughtful about anticipating the best properties that might fit our interests. At every stage of the process, she took the time to explain what to expect and the various strategic considerations we should keep in mind. When she had concerns about a property--or anticipated that we might--she was open about communicating them to us. Amanda's assistant Brad was also available to us to answer questions and was always prompt in providing us with information. Most importantly, when we told Amanda that we had found our perfect fit, she made sure that we had the best possible chance of winning our bid. We did, and are absolutely in love with our house. Thank you Amanda and Brad! - K. Gasztonyi & B. Kennedy - Buyers

Amanda and Brad are a fantastic team. They leveraged my house well through having the best staging arranged, photography and far-reaching tech savvy advertising which included social media. I received an excellent offer with a nice return on my investment. They communicated constantly, helped me weigh offers and always had my best interest in mind. I'd trust them to help me with my real estate transactions anytime. Sarah B. Nelson (Program Architect for IBM Studios)

Recently I worked with Compass to sell a single family home in San Francisco that was held within a trust. I chose Compass and specifically my agent Brad Smith for their reputation and for their expertise in knowing the depth and breath of the market in San Francisco. As a successor trustee with no experience in selling a property both Brad and his associate Amanda thoughtfully walked me through each step of the process providing me with guidance while sharing both their logistical as well as emotional support after losing my dear friend and confidant of forty-two years. Their sensitivity to the specifics of the trust's requirements and of the complicated nature of it terms made the process of selling the home, a property that had been within the family for eighty-two years, quite easy. As a result we were able to secure a sales price well over the asking, much to the benefit of the beneficiaries. - Stephen B. (Successor trustee of 2435 25th Avenue)
