Dave is a strategic leader with broad-based business, financial and operational expertise gained from almost 35 years of residential real estate sales, management and training experience. Originally from Canada – his family immigrated to California in 1959, Dave began his career in the real estate industry in 1980 first as a sales associate and later becoming a broker in 1982. He has owned his own real estate firm, has been a sales manager for Grubb & Ellis Residential in Saratoga, Prudential Real Estate in Los Gatos and Windermere SVP in Silver Creek, before joining Alain Pinel Realtors in 2007.

As Vice President and Manager of the Compass Almaden office in San Jose, Dave is responsible for supervising the 70 real estate sales professionals and staff that work for him and for reviewing all their transactions for professional, regulatory, and disclosure compliance.

Dave has a history of being at the forefront of real estate trends, its policies and industry organizations. He has been on the Board of Directors for both the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors (SILVAR) and the Santa Clara County Association of Realtors (SCCAOR) as well as the Board of Directors for our Multiple Listings Service, MLSListings, Inc. In 2007, Dave was awarded the prestigious “Realtor of the Year” award by the Santa Clara County Association of Realtors and was elected and served as their President in 2008. In 2010, Dave was chosen as the Federal Political Contact for Zoe Lofgren, member of the House of Representatives serving Silicon Valley. He frequently visits Washington D. C. in support of all homeownership rights and issues.

Having served on the professional standards and grievance committees for SCCAOR, Dave is passionate about consumer protection, risk management and the professional standards of the real estate industry. To that end, he is asked to speak frequently on real estate ethics and professional conduct as well as other trends, values and issues impacting Bay Area, California and National real estate.
