While Steven wasn’t born into the real estate business, he may as well have been. Growing up in New Jersey, his father was in construction for as long as Steven could remember. That gave him an in-depth, hands-on exposure to that business—which ultimately propelled him into the related fields of real estate, property management & ownership.

Armed with personal expertise and following his entrepreneurial spirit, Steven formed his own real estate firm, HomeCanvasr. For the past seven years, the firm has specialized in helping clients find hidden opportunities (and great values) in the undergrounds of Brooklyn’s off-market space.

Whether his clients are seasoned investors, internationals, or savvy everyday buyers, for Steven it’s all about finding those diamonds in the rough, those “value-add” properties that exist well beyond what the StreetEasy’s of the world can offer: this is what he relishes most and why clients credit him with having “a keen opportunistic sense” and for being someone “who sees great value, often before others do.”

Steven’s amassed learning and personable style has helped establish himself as a local expert in not only Brooklyn but townhouses in general. Not to mention a skilled negotiator who seamlessly navigates the complexities of off-market deals. Along the way, Steven has developed a vast network of real estate professionals (attorneys, architects, designers) with expertise in the unique challenges of off-market deals, making for a potent team.

He is using all his expertise and learnings throughout the years in developing a new vehicle - “The Investors Agent” (see Instagram @theInvestorsAgent) to showcase opportunities throughout all of NYC, not just “secret, value add townhouses” in Brooklyn, but properties which are deals for the right person: be it that quintessential West Village co-op in need of a minor facelift or that Williamsburg artist’s loft that seems close to extinction these days.

In his off time, he can be found on the many futbol pitches throughout NYC. He is also an avid runner and has completed the NYC marathon as part of Fred’s Team, benefitting Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Kosciuszko Foundation. Steven is in the process of designing and building a modern barn house (with antique & loft vibes) in the Hudson Valley; merging city life with the vast farmlands of Columbia County. Fitness, architecture and travel round out his other passions.

Steven is a resident of Williamsburg, Brooklyn—ironically the neighborhood his father first emigrated to in the early 1980s (back when Williamsburg wasn’t so hip). Besides all the great restaurants and the convenience to downtown Manhattan, Steven loves the diversity of the neighborhood, from new European transplants to his old-school Polish and Puerto Rican neighbors. “The people you meet here, that’s the best part. I wouldn’t live anywhere else - NYC or Nowhere.”
