Tim was born into a multi-generational family of realtors who built their legacy on honesty, integrity and hard work. Thomas J. Owen & Son was a commercial, residential and auction real estate firm founded in 1896 by Tim’s great, great grandfather in Washington D.C.
Being an entrepreneur and self-starter comes naturally to Tim. He picked up a camera and started documenting the underground D.C. music scene at age 16. He started his own record label while graduating high school and attended Rochester Institute of Technology and the School of Visual Arts for photography. Photography came instinctively and he left art school to shoot bands for magazines and record labels. You can ask him about all the bands he’s photographed, there are some big ones. His record label took off and became a full-time venture in the 90’s going on to sell over a million records in its 25 years. The changes in the music industry led Tim back to the family business of real estate, he bought his first home in Wilmington, Delaware in 2002.
Tim currently lives in the Mount Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia with his wife and their rescue cats. Their 1920’s stone colonial has been their pride and joy as they have worked for 8 years to bring the neglected home back to life. When not immersed in his real estate business, you can find Tim working with many animal rescues and charities and occasionally still catching a show at one of Philly's venues.
