About Tony
Tony Huizar is a California-licensed real estate professional at Compass with nearly 30 years of experience in luxury Westside Los Angeles real estate. A Santa Monica native and UCLA graduate, Tony represents sellers and buyers throughout Westwood and the broader Westside, combining transaction strategy, negotiation, property marketing, brokerage operations, and extensive local market knowledge.
His experience ranges from advising sophisticated real estate investors evaluating multimillion-dollar acquisitions to guiding first-time homebuyers through their first purchase. In each case, Tony helps clients understand the property, the market, the financial considerations, and the potential risks so they can make informed decisions with confidence.
Tony’s perspective has been shaped by working across multiple sides of residential real estate. Early in his career, he helped open DBL Realtors’ Pacific Palisades office and later participated in its transition to Sotheby’s International Realty. In 2008, he joined Gibson International as its founding Director of Marketing, helping build the company’s brand and later overseeing transitions to Pacific Union and ultimately Compass.
For more than five years, Tony has worked alongside James Bremner at Compass, helping manage the marketing, operations, negotiations, and transaction execution behind a highly successful Westside practice. His work has included property preparation and positioning, contracts, offer strategy, escrow, vendor coordination, and multimillion-dollar residential transactions. In 2025 alone, RealTrends verified James Bremner at $49.17 million in sales volume across 18 transactions, giving Tony direct experience with the pace and complexity of a high-producing Westside practice.
Today, Tony brings that experience directly to his own buyer and seller representation.
For Tony, the search for the right buyer for a home, or the right home for a buyer, does not begin with bedroom count, bathroom count, or lot size. It begins with understanding what makes a property, a street, and a client different. A home near Fairburn Avenue Elementary in Westwood may call for a different conversation than one connected to Santa Monica High School, just as the strategy for a multimillion-dollar listing in the Beverly Hills Flats differs from the sale of a condominium in Westwood.
That is where Tony’s local knowledge becomes personal. He knows Los Angeles because he has lived it. Born and raised in Santa Monica, he raised his family through the Santa Monica public school system, built his career in Westside luxury real estate, and experienced the market from the other side of the table as a first-time homebuyer himself.
Tony also has a particular appreciation for original Spanish architecture, vintage stucco, arched openings, old hardwood floors, mature landscaping, and the unmistakable Los Angeles character of palm trees and endless summers. A lifelong UCLA and Raiders fan, his connection to the Westside comes from everyday life as much as from real estate.
For sellers, that means understanding how to position what makes a home distinctive and how to negotiate from a position of strength. For buyers, it means looking beyond the listing sheet to consider value, terms, leverage, transaction risk, neighborhood character, schools, access to UCLA or Century City, traffic patterns, and proximity to the beach.
Throughout his career, Tony has remained grounded in a simple belief: real estate is ultimately a people business. His approach is built around listening carefully, communicating directly, solving problems creatively, negotiating thoughtfully, and giving clients the perspective they need to make sound decisions.
