Vanessa Hatvany Kitchen

Vanessa Hatvany Kitchen is a dynamic and results-driven real estate professional dedicated to delivering exceptional service to her clients. With over 16 years of industry experience, she brings a sharp eye, strategic mindset, and deep market knowledge to every transaction.

A San Francisco native, Vanessa began her career in Manhattan, where she spent over seven years with Douglas Elliman building a successful luxury real estate business. She also served as Board President of her condominium association and frequently managed international clients' investment rentals and renovation projects. In 2016, Vanessa returned home to co-found Team Hatvany at Compass, which has been ranked the #1 Real Estate Team in San Francisco from 2017 to 2025. 

Vanessa is a relentless advocate for her buyers, known for her thorough risk analysis and disclosure review, strategic comparable analysis, and no-nonsense negotiation style. Sellers benefit from her previous background in journalism and public relations, which she uses to oversee marketing strategy, listing presentation, and creative collateral—from listing descriptions to photography and video.

Vanessa is a seasoned real estate investor with several multi-family investments across San Francisco. She owns and operates an apartment building in the Marina district, which provides her with an acute understanding of how to efficiently develop multi-unit properties into successful, income-producing, and appreciating assets. An avid remodeler, she has been involved in multiple renovation projects, including her Manhattan condominium and, most recently, two San Francisco properties on the north side of town, and enjoys consulting for her clients on value-driven improvements. 

Vanessa holds a B.A. in Psychology from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, and an M.A. in Journalism from New York University. She is an active volunteer with Golden Gate Mother’s Group and her sons’ preschool, and in her free time, enjoys swimming and hiking. She lives in Pacific Heights with her husband, Aaron, and their two sons, William and Henry.
