"Recently, I was told I would need to relocate to Austin for my job. Like any responsible human being, I began to search online for apartments and houses. I looked at a few websites, many of which required me to submit my information to view the real estate. This was where I first encountered Wafiq. He sent me a very personal email offering his help and expertise, which I initially disregarded since I knew my company would be setting me up with an agency. Fast forward a few months (and a few more check-in emails from Wafiq), and my company emailed over the company they selected to help with the relocation. I was assigned to someone standard and received his generic email with his picture. As I looked at the picture in the top right-hand corner, something looked familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Eventually, I went back into my email and opened an email from Wafiq and realized what looked so familiar; they worked at the same company. I reached out to the agency asked if I could have Wafiq, as he was persistent, professional, honest, and I would feel more comfortable working with him. They obliged. This was the best decision I could have made.
I took two trips to Austin to look at places; first were mainly houses to buy, second were apartments to rent. Wafiq picked me up at the hotel right on time and where he had our schedule laid out, and we began our journey around the city and surrounding suburbs. He had a vast knowledge of each of his houses, some of which weren't his primary listings. As an outsider who had never been to Austin before, he also gave me the skinny on the city, traffic, best food spots - you name it. He was very upfront and honest, which I was absolutely not expecting when looking for a house. At no point did I feel pressured or told how many people want this house, it was good-hearted information and feedback. Unfortunately, I did not find anything that wowed me, so I left empty-handed.
The second trip was similar, Wafiq picking me up at my hotel to chauffeur me around the city to different apartment complexes. In between locations, we would chat, and he would educate me on Austin facts and hot spots, many of which I have visited since my 4 months here. When we would arrive to the complexes, he would take the initiative, ask the questions I wasn't aware of, and acted as if it were him that was looking to rent that spot, which I found very genuine. After a few duds, we came to our last spot of the day, which I ended up renting. All and all, I couldn't have found a better person to show me houses, apartments, and the city than Wafiq. He understood what I was looking for, did the research, then found great spots to show me in my price range.
If you are looking for a professional, well versed, honest, and laid back Realtor, there are none better than Wafiq. He still checks in on me from time to time, and if I ever do decide to buy in Austin, it will 100% be from Wafiq.
