About Wright
Wright was raised in Dallas, Texas and spent most weekends and every summer working cattle,
hunting and fishing on his family’s fifth-generation East Texas cattle ranch and other ranches
around Texas. In addition to honing his skills as a sportsman, Wright developed a deep
appreciation for ranches, their history and a diverse hands-on understanding of the many
components that ranch ownership, operation, and improvement entails.
Wright has managed many projects with biologists and wildlife managers to improve private
freshwater fisheries, develop waterfowl wetlands and improve wildlife habitat conditions for
family property and other landowners. In 2007, Wright began focusing on ranch land for
investments and ranch brokerage with McCallum Properties under the tutelage of Charles
McCallum.
His work experience includes a genuine understanding of complex landowner issues, representing buyers and sellers, acting as an intermediary for multi-million dollar real estate transactions, ranch assembly/ disposition / partition / land planning / development and handling oil, gas and aggregate leases, operations and reclamation. In 2012, Wright joined Hortenstine Ranch Company where he won a number of Top Producer of The Year Awards. Approached by Compass in 2019, Wright created Monning Ranch Group, which became a highly productive Farm in Ranch team within Compass. In 2023, Wright and his team joined Icon Global, a global marketing and brokerage firm. After two years with Icon Global, Wright and longtime friend and teammate Derrick Dameron have rejoined Compass Ranch and Land as Principals of Monning Dameron Ranch Group.
Wright’s understanding of the current Texas ranch market, dedication and energy ensures his client’s best interests and specific needs are fully met. Wright lives in Dallas and is the father of two delightful children, a twelve-year-old son, Wright III, and his nineteen-year-old daughter, Wynne. In his free time, Wright enjoys working, hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors with his family and friends.
