A rare, classic example of early 50's Modern MidCentury Architecture: Designed by George Foster Harrell in 1952, the house sits on almost 3 pristine acres, and boasts more than 260 feet of waterfront frontage on the Tar River. The home is an authentic homage to Modernism: the language of horizontal glass, wide overhangs, Cypress and Oak wood paneling throughout, and ceiling beams are a few of the elements incorporated in the design. The interior layout is anchored by two double sided massive stone fireplaces between the bedrooms, as well as the living room and exterior patio. The Primary Bedroom and Living Area feature vaulted ceilings with integrated cove lighting. A wall to wall glass sliding door opens the Living Room to the Sun Room, thereby merging the two spaces into one. All the major living spaces are oriented to the Tar River. The salt water heated pool, with it's own bathroom and storage area, and the sweeping curved stone patio offer more ways to integrate the beautiful setting into daily life.
