The design of the deck was intentional. Because it’s directly viewed from thefamily room, the deck actually becomes part of the family room. So the clean lines of the home are continued in the design features of the deck.
Spacious octagonal (8 sided) gazebo is 16’ in diameter, 8’ high at the sides, 12’ at peak in the center. The screened gazebo was custom built and is extremely sturdy.
As with everything else, the design is simplistic, functional, and attractive. There’s a ceiling fan with a light, as well as electric outlets just inside the door and just outside the door. The shingles are the same as on the roof of the house.
This pool was chosen for maximum enjoyment and minimum upkeep. It’s a fiberglass pool with a built-in self-cleaning system that continuously sweeps and cleans the pool. No vacuuming needed, no brushing needed. It has a saltwater chlorinating system.
The roofing material is 40-yr architectural shingles, rather than the typical 15-year shingles. And we used 40lb tar paper under the shingles, rather than the typical 20lb tar paper. The roof overhang is supported by 6 glulam beams and two microlam beams
This is a completely custom home. It was designed by Raleigh Architect Michael Moorefield. The principle of “form follows function” was firmly in place; but hopefully you’ll agree that in this case, functional is also beautiful!
