Diamond Ledge Lodge is a successor building to the original, built by Alla W. Foster in the 1890's. Alla was the daughter of pioneering Quaker Abolitionist & Feminist Abigail Kelley Foster, who spoke at the 1838 Anti-Slavery Convention in Philadelphia. Daughter Alla carried these ideals to Sandwich, and was a leader in forming the first socially conscious women's organization there. In Sandwich, women received the vote 17 years before the nation.
