Since 1998, Trout Unlimited Members have partnered with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in planting about 600 Assinica Brook Trout in Lost Lake each year - they have been so successful that the lake produces trout in the 18-Inch Range. The lake has about 2,400 feet of lake frontage with two bluffs on each side. The forest is made up of modestly timbered acreage, and is surrounded on three sides by thousands of acres of Corporate CFA Lands and on the fourth side it borders Copper Country State Forest Lands. This parcel is also enrolled in the Michigan Commercial Forest Act Program: CF Owners pay an annual specific tax of $1.25 per acre through 2016 - "Walk-In" Public Access for hunting and fishing is available on CF Land. A New Owner will need to submit a New Forest Management Plan, and a Notification of Ownership Change Form to the State. If a New Owner desires to build a cabin on the property, the area designated around the structure will need to be withdrawn from the CF Program.
