Around the Block

Fort mill
Fort Mill was once a textile center and was home to sprawling farmland. While it’s still home to several peach orchards, it’s turning into quite the Queen City hotspot.

The word is out and people are flocking to the South Carolina suburb from Charlotte and beyond. You’ll find a more friendly cost of living mixed with urban connectivity to a growing metro area in Charlotte.

What to expect:
Suburbia with urban connectivity in less than 30 minutes - and peaches

In 2020, the US Census called Fort Mill the nation’s fastest-growing town. What was once a sleepy suburb is now a fast-developing town, mixing old with new. Retail centers are quickly growing with corporations like Black and Decker planting roots in the area. Speaking of planting roots, you may find yourself feely quite peachy with all of the orchards nearby.

The lifestyle:
Historic charm, connectivity, top-notch schools, high quality of life, and more.

Sure - Fort Mill offers a 20+ minute commute to the Queen City - but there’s more to this town than a drive to Charlotte. It’s got nationally-ranked public schools, a tight-knit community with regular family-friendly events, a growing corporate infrastructure, and more. Despite growing retail and corporate attraction, the downtown area is still reminiscent of a real-life “Pleasantville” - a historic charm that’s hard to come by in 2021.

Unexpected appeal:
The Carolina Panthers, Carowinds, and fireworks.

Head 20+ minutes north and you’re standing in Bank of America Stadium for a Monday Night game. Head 20+ minutes south and you’re at the Panthers’ state-of-the-art, $1 billion training facility under construction in neighboring Rock Hill. Either way, you’re entrenched in the black and blue. Not to mention - rides, roller coasters, and more are at your doorstep in Carowinds Amusement Park. Mix in some fireworks that you can purchase in the bottle rocket-friendly state of South Carolina and your summer nights just got turned up a notch.

The market:
A mix of new construction and resale with more bang for your buck and lower price points than most Charlotte suburbs.

Buyers are beginning to cash in on Charlotte’s close proximity to South Carolina, paving the way for a rare ability to live in one state and work in another. Price points are substantially more friendly than surrounding areas in the Old North State. You’ll find more yard, more square footage - more everything.

You'll fall in love with:
The cost of living.

This part of South Carolina boasts friendlier tax rates when compared to nearby areas in its northern counterpart. In Fort Mill, you’ll get the best of both worlds - lower property taxes, overall price points, and significant investment growth opportunities in your home, coupled with connectivity to the QC where the prices begin to scale with the skyscrapers.
