"If you’re looking for the absolute best realtor, look no further than Nick May! From the moment we decided to sell our home to the day we closed on our new one, Nick made what could have been a stressful process feel easy and seamless. His knowledge of the market, attention to detail, and dedication to his clients are second to none. He was always available to answer our questions, kept us informed every step of the way, and truly went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. We never felt like just another client—we felt like family. Nick didn’t just help us sell our home quickly and for a great price; he also helped us find the perfect new home. His patience, professionalism, and genuine care made all the difference. It’s rare to find someone who works as hard as he does and genuinely has his clients’ best interests at heart. If I could give more than five stars, I would! Nick May is hands down the best realtor around, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. If you’re buying or selling a home, do yourself a favor and call Nick. You’ll be glad you did!"

"Nick May provided the single best experience possible in selling my Rock Hill home. As a referred listing agent he priced my home perfectly. I received a full price offer in a matter of days. In prepping my home for sale, Nick not only gave clear and honest guidance, he managed not just my expectations but the expectations of the buyer and the buyer's agent with precise communication. I cannot imagine a world where I would have chosen anyone but Nick May and his team for the sale of my property. No question was too elementary, and I felt that I was provided honest, clear guidance every step of the way through the sale of my home in South Carolina."

I was born and raised in Greenwood, South Carolina, by my parents, Rufus and Miriam May. My mom stayed home with us when we were young and gave our family an incredible foundation, while my dad built his career in insurance. In Greenwood, it seemed like everyone knew Rufus, and everyone trusted him. A quick trip around town was rarely quick because Dad always knew somebody, and he had an ability to talk to just about anyone and make them feel comfortable.
I inherited a lot from him, including his sense of humor, his people skills, and probably my inability to go somewhere without starting a conversation. More importantly, I saw firsthand that success in a relationship-driven business isn't just about making a sale. It's about treating people the right way and earning enough trust that they come back to you, and send the people they care about your way.
Ironically, I started my career about as far from real estate as you can get.
I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Chemistry and spent seven years working in research and development. As my career progressed, I moved from the technical side into developing proposals and negotiating bids for research projects. I enjoyed the numbers, strategy, and negotiation, but eventually realized something was missing: people. I wanted a career where I could interact with people every day, build relationships, compete, negotiate, and see the direct impact of the work I was doing.
Real estate turned out to be the perfect fit.
Today, I bring both sides of that background to every transaction. I'm numbers-driven and analytical, but I also know there's a much bigger picture behind those numbers. A home isn't just an asset on a spreadsheet. It's where life happens, and buying or selling one is often tied to a major change in someone's life. My job is to understand both sides of that equation.
After more than eight years in real estate, Keith Sandman and I created Carolinas Property Group because we wanted to move away from the "big team" mentality. We believed we could provide something more personal—where clients know exactly who they're working with, receive advice specific to their situation, and never feel like another transaction moving through a system.
That philosophy is also part of what led Carolinas Property Group to Compass. We believe the real estate industry needs to continue evolving, and Compass has demonstrated a willingness to make big, necessary changes while investing heavily in technology, marketing, and tools that can create a better experience for both agents and their clients. We wanted to be part of that drive while continuing to provide the personal service on which we built CPG.
My connection to this area is personal, too. My wife, Jessalyn, was born and raised in Rock Hill, and after college I followed her to the Indian Land area, which turned out to be a pretty good real estate decision and an even better life decision. We have been married for over 15 years and now called Indian Land home. Our small family includes our fur baby, Teddie Bear, who we spoil rotten...as we should.
Outside of real estate, I'm a fun, outgoing, competitive guy who can usually find common ground with just about anyone. I love sports, concerts, movies, spending time with friends and family, a good bourbon, and cheering on my South Carolina Gamecocks. Sarcasm is also a fairly important part of my communication strategy.
That personality carries into my business. I'll joke with you, I'll celebrate with you, and I'll make the process as enjoyable as I can but when it's time to negotiate, analyze the numbers, or have a difficult conversation, I'm going to tell you what I believe you need to hear, not simply what sounds good.
At the end of the day, I learned something from my dad long before I understood I'd eventually make a career out of it:
You can build a business by making sales. You build a reputation by taking care of people.
That's the kind of business I want to build.
