Born in San Francisco and raised in Marin County, Alexander is the founder of The Lurie Group, a San Francisco-based Residential Real Estate company. Previous to real estate Alexander founded and sold a Chicago- based marketing company that rivaled Groupon. Previous to this, Alexander was a management consultant with Mercer Management Consulting. Alexander is an active member of the San Francisco community. He supports The Tipping Point Community, The Fromm Institute, serves as Secretary on the Board of Directors for the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) and is a committee member of the Executive Grant Making Committee of the Jewish Federation.
Lurie is a graduate of Northwestern University where he double majored in Communications and Political Science. Alexander attended The Thacher School in Ojai, California for high school.
