Cool Spring Sporting Property is approximately 187+/- acres.  The Perpetual Deed of Easement calls for 182 acres of the parent deed to be enrolled in conservation with an additional 5+/- acre field left out of the Easement.  Located south of Marydel, MD in the village of Henderson, the land runs North and South along Cool Spring Road and North to Northeast along Marvel Road.  In 2009, the landowner was approached by a conservation consulting group to enroll in the Wetland Reserve Program or WRP (Later...Cool Spring Sporting Property is approximately 187+/- acres.  The Perpetual Deed of Easement calls for 182 acres of the parent deed to be enrolled in conservation with an additional 5+/- acre field left out of the Easement.  Located south of Marydel, MD in the village of Henderson, the land runs North and South along Cool Spring Road and North to Northeast along Marvel Road.  In 2009, the landowner was approached by a conservation consulting group to enroll in the Wetland Reserve Program or WRP (Later renamed WRE) .  Over the next three years, staff at USDA and other partners worked to enroll, design and implement the restoration of the hydrology of the farm and several seasonal wetlands scattered around the farm.  This part of the Caroline County landscape is traditionally known for the presence of delmarva bays.  These shallow ponds appear on agricultural lands throughout the county and in recent years crop production encouraged the draining of these palustrine wetlands.    There are 12 seasonal wetland ponds on the property, as well as Cool Springs Branch running through the north side of the farm.  The land tract is protected in this conservation easement under WRE perpetually.  The environment created by these wetlands provides important habitat to many species of flora and fauna.  The wildlife for both the upland game and migratory waterfowl is demonstrated through the increased habitat use the farm has witnessed.
