110 Briarcliff Road was built in the summer of 1927 for Littleton J. Glass (1894-1948) and his wife Stella Tucker Glass (1900-1980). It was the first house on the street, situated on a hill with views toward University Drive and Forest Hills Park.
The house features a wonderful engaged porch with Doric columns, shed dormers, and a gable-end chimney. It is one of the principal examples of the bungalow style in the neighborhood and is a contributing structure to the Forest Hills Historic District.
That first owner, L.J. Glass, was a World War I veteran, president of the Two Way Service Station in Durham and possibly a relative of J. Fuller Glass, one of the developers of Forest Hills.
110 Briarcliff is convenient to major highways and attractions. It is a short walk (1/10 mile) to Forest Hills Park and tennis courts and a 1/2 mile to Q Shack, Thai Cafe, Wine Authorities, and the American Tobacco Trail.
It is just a 1 mile walk to Foster's, Guglhupf, and The Refectory.
It is located just 1.2 miles to Hwy 147/Durham Freeway, American Tobacco, and the Durham Bulls ballpark.
And that's not all. It is just 1.5 miles to DPAC and 2 miles to Duke University East Campus.
The Nasher Art Museum is just 2.5 miles away and you are 3 miles to I-85 and Duke Gardens.
The only carpet in the house is inside two of the closets.
