Tom is a Chicago area native originally from Glen Ellyn. He has a particular passion for city living, earning a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He’s been a perennial volunteer with neighborhood groups such as the Streeterville Association of Active Residents, the Greater North Michigan Avenue Association, the Streeterville Chamber of Commerce and the River North Business Association. Tom prides himself on being involved in the community and being among the first to know of exciting new developments in the city.
Tom is also a practicing attorney, a solo practitioner working in the areas of estate planning, corporate counsel and nonprofit development. He earned his law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1997.
Outside of these professional interests, Tom is an avid sportsman, enjoying sailing, cycling, backpacking and a number of other outdoor activities. He is particularly fond of delivering sailboats across the Atlantic between the U.S. East Coast and the Caribbean. He is also the founder of the Windy City Explorers, a nonprofit venture bringing people together to explore Chicago’s many diverse neighborhoods. Finally, Tom takes great pride in his Irish heritage. Both Grandparents emigrated from County Kerry in the early 1900's, settling in Chicago. Tom holds dual citizenship in Ireland and the United States and enjoys visiting the Emerald Isle several times a year.
