About Chris

As a Nashville resident since 1997, a real estate investor and landlord since 2012, a licensed General Contractor since 2014, and a founding agent for Compass’s Nashville market expansion in 2018, Chris Koch possesses a unique real estate experience with which you can rely on to guide you toward your home purchase, sale or investment in Tennessee.

After a successful 10-year sales career in the medical and surgical fields, Chris left ‘Corporate America’ in 2012, when he began investing in Nashville real estate during the 2008 recession recovery period. He raised over $1 million in private capital and launched a company built around distressed home purchasing, renovation and resale to the market, commonly referred to as ‘house flipping’. After completing 76 successful house flips from 2012-2016, Chris obtained his real estate license in 2017 and began buying homes for a large investor client and home buyers & sellers in Middle Tennessee. Chris’s 106 home sales for just over $20 million in 2017 earned him the Greater Nashville Realtors Rookie of the Year award. His 106 home sales is a record that still stands today for first-year agents in Nashville.

In 2018 Chris was recruited to Compass, and along with nine other founding agents, he helped launch the Compass market expansion in Nashville, participating in its growth from ten agents to over 150 Nashville agents in the first 18 months.

In early 2020, Chris left Compass to co-found and launch a real estate technology and services company called Picket Homes. Chris and three co-founders took the company from idea (2019) to launch (2020) to scale (2021-22) and from 0 to nearly 200 employees. In 2022, he led a team of seven agents, who through this proprietary technology, totaled over 1,000 home sales at over $300 million for Picket Homes investor clients, in just one year.

Chris stepped down from his co-founder role at Picket Homes in 2023 and is back at Compass long-term to help clients with home buying, selling and investing, and to teach the lessons and values of owning real estate.
