Laura earned a BBA in finance from Baylor University and honed her extensive business acumen in consulting roles and executive training prior to real estate. Laura and Matt have been members of The Woodlands United Methodist Church for more than 25 years, and the team gives back through extensive charitable giving.

The Powers' family life mission is reflected in Nelson Henderson’s quote, “The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.” Laura has committed to grow a team that is unparalleled in the industry and as a reflection of her appreciation, she gives an annual monetary gift in honor of their clients to Family Legacy International to benefit the orphans of Zambia that they have served since 2012, that have been scourged by HIV/AIDS. Once a quarter, her team chooses a local charity to serve. From making dinner for homeless families in the Family Promise program to styling 15 young ladies hair & makeup with Love Fosters Hope, this philosophy of giving is integral to her team's and Compass' culture. Laura & Matt love to travel to Angel Fire to hike & fish, visit their children, Megan & Sam, or host intimate groups for dinner in their home.
