About Mitchel
An investment real estate specialist in the Kappel Realty Group at Compass, Mitchel DiLorenzo holds a bachelor’s degree in real estate from the University of San Diego (USD) and he is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Finance at the USD School of Business.
Mitchel grew up in the real estate business. Mitchel’s father is involved in lending on numerous commercial and residential real estate projects and his mother is an active luxury real estate agent. His family also invests in short term rentals. Mitchel worked with his mother during his early years and assisted her business during his colligate summers.
While completing his undergraduate program at USD, Mitchel was hand selected to participate in the NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association University Challenge, the largest collegiate real estate competition in the San Diego region. His challenge focused on a 71-acre Naval Base site in the heart of San Diego- Naval Base Point Loma SPAWAR. Mitchel’s team prepared, presented, and consulted with San Diego’s real estate community, the City of San Diego, and the Navy to create the optimal project that benefits San Diego culturally, socially, and economically. Mitchel’s team won first place in the competition; moreover, their ideas helped refocus the future development of the site to include criteria of community benefit and creativity to ultimately benefits the San Diego Region.
Prior to real estate, Mitchel was a Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Midshipman at the University of San Diego. Here, Mitchel participated as an active member and held numerous leadership positions. Most notable, Mitchel was selected to mentor and lead over sixty Midshipman in their preparation for a premier leadership school in the United States Armed Forces, Marine Corps Officer Candidate School (OCS). Mitchel was successful in guiding the Midshipman through physical, mental, and tactical exercises that helped prepare the Midshipman for the rigorous challenges they faced ahead at OCS. Every student that Mitchel lead in their preparation and who attended Officer Candidate School excelled and completed the course; Marine Corps Officer Candidate School is known for its rigor and high attrition rate.
The mentorship and education that Mitchel provides for his clients in each and every transaction is reflective of the mentorship and education that he received growing up through his family real estate business and his formal collegiate-level real estate training. His hands-on approach and investment real estate background has made him a successful agent while working with both home buyers and real estate investors.
Upon Mitchel’s completion of the Master of Finance he will receive orders to attend The Marine Corps Basic School as a Second Lieutenant. Mitchel is dedicated to the service of his clients, real estate team, and country.
