Now entering his tenth year in New York City real estate, Jimmy Johnson joins Compass with a record of success across a wide range of residential transactions. Having graduated from the Theater Studies program at Yale University, Jimmy started his career in New York in 2003 as a recruiter for a prestigious management consulting firm and eventually managed a national MBA recruiting program at 18 universities across the country. His success helping candidates with the important task of finding the right career naturally led to helping clients with another of life's most rewarding journeys: finding the right home. Jimmy’s work for his real estate clients is driven by the same values he brought to bear on his successful recruiting career: client impact first and foremost, a dedication to making the experience meaningful and enjoyable, and a commitment to continual professional growth and the highest ethical principles.
Jimmy rose quickly to success in real estate because he listens to his clients and can understand their needs, a trait which has helped him achieve a nearly 100% referral-based business. Having launched his real estate business just months before the onset of the 2008 financial crisis, Jimmy learned quickly the importance of adaptability and innovation in this business. His early years as a rental agent provided a great basis of knowledge of the city’s neighborhoods and housing stock. As his career developed, Jimmy gained deep experience with first-time buyers and came to love the excitement of helping renters become homeowners for the first time. Jimmy launched his team with the addition of his colleague Tuck Gaisford in January of 2015. When not busy working, Jimmy likes to travel to visit friends and family across the country. Back home in New York, Jimmy is a frequent theater and opera-goer, and he volunteers actively with Stonewall Community Foundation, serving on their committee for recruitment and governance. On Saturdays, he spends time at the beach or exploring the ice cream shops, boutiques, and parks in his neighborhood of Cobble Hill, where he has lived since 2012.
