With 10 years of experience in wellness, sustainability, and real estate, John brings a deep knowledge and passion for creating a healthy and whole home to his residential real estate practice.
A graduate of Harvard Law School and Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, John's background in law and negotiation lends itself well to the many stages of a real estate transaction. John performed advanced research and work with the Harvard Program on Negotiation, working on complex issues such as international climate change negotiations. He strongly believes in the Harvard Program on Negotiation's emphasis on a collaborative approach to negotiation, one which allows all parties to "grow the pie" rather than just divide it. John goes to great lengths to maximize the benefits to all parties while at the same time making the process of buying and selling a home an enjoyable one.
John serves as Executive Director of Earth Day Initiative, an environmental non-profit with a variety of sustainability initiatives, including a green building publication going back 20 years and a sustainable food education program. He also serves as an adjunct professor at NYU with a course titled Marketing Green Homes, which looks at how a variety of green and healthy building features and standards (including LEED, Passive House, and WELL) resonate with home buyers.
John has lived and worked in London, Taipei, and Sydney and is currently a resident of Chelsea. He spends most of his time outdoors in downtown Manhattan and along the Brooklyn waterfront. He's a big fan of fitness classes, a frequent concert-goer, and a regular user of the city's wide range of outdoor spaces and parks.
