About Phillip
I love New York. This has become an overused cliche, destined for a cheap t-shirt. But in my case it is true. This love affair started with my first trip to New York as a high school junior when I participated in a theater/sightseeing tour between Christmas and New Year’s, sponsored by the local college in my hometown of Wayne, Nebraska. After spending the first several hours in the hustle and bustle of midtown, I remember emerging from the subway at Christopher Street and Seventh Avenue. It was a foggy winter’s night where the sky hung low enough that it felt like I could reach up and touch it. Smoke poured from orange and white tubes stuck into the street. Suddenly all the tall buildings were gone and as the lyric goes, “there was a hush all over the world.” The streets, so many of them, commingled and scurried off in all directions. That was when I fell in love.

I wrote the following after that trip: “Whoever said ‘It’s a great place to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there’ was obviously not talking about New York. At least not as far as I concerned. I can think of nothing more exciting than spending five years in a Greenwich Village apartment and from there enjoying the sights. I will live on my memories for many months, and when they begin to fade, I will start planning my next trip. This was only the beginning.” They say that a goal is a dream with a deadline. I carried this dream for years before it became my reality. I have now been a resident of the West Village, first as a renter and then as a coop owner, for more years than I want to own up to. My passion to hand keys to someone who shares my dream to live in Manhattan is a direct manifestation of this experience.

“There’s no place like home.” These immortal words from The Wizard of Oz speak volumes. Home is important to me. It is the place I take pride in, the place I seek out for sanctuary, and the place I enjoy sharing with my friends and family, in good times or bad. I appreciate that turning this dream to reality is full of complexities that people in most other parts of the country don’t experience when purchasing or selling a home. I am uniquely qualified to help you handle these challenges. As a homeowner in a coop, I also served on the coop board. This service has given me personal insights into how a board reviews and evaluates potential purchasers and rental tenants. As a CPA, I possess the financial acumen to oversee the compilation of your financial data that the decision makers who approve the transaction will review to make their decision. Whether I represent you as a buyer or a seller, these skills will help to ensure a sale that results in the desirable conclusion. And as an agent representing you as a buyer, I have seen thousands of properties, and I have a keen eye to help you see the possibilities of an apartment that may not be move-in ready.

Although this is a profile for you to learn about my background, the most important thing I can communicate is that first and foremost, your real estate transaction is all about you. I get that. There are few things more personal to you than your home. There are few transactions whose price tag will ever exceed your purchase or sale of a property in New York City. In this arena, emotions run high. Stress is a constant. Obstacles are frequent. And that is why my team and I are with you every step of the way to make your experience as seamless as possible. Let us help you make your dream a reality.
