Local Knowledge: San Francisco native Greg Terry is well-versed in the qualities of the Bay Area. Since beginning his real estate career over 29 years ago, Greg has watched the Bay Area evolve to the banking, service, technology and biotech center of the world.
Personal Skills: Real estate is not something Greg “fell into.” Choosing real estate as a career path was a natural choice based on his innate skills, passion and learned knowledge. Sales relate to people and products, and I love both. As a 10 year old, growing up on the Peninsula, I can remember setting up a TV tray in my parent's driveway and I’d sell anything from old toys to Kool-Aid on hot summer days. Interacting positively through successful transactions with fellow agents and building solid relationships both in and outside real estate is a key component to Greg’s success. Bonding with my Clients and understanding their needs and guiding them through transactions is an innate skill then honed by years and years of success.
Product Knowledge/Education: Greg comes from a family of builders and spent years, while in school, working for his father’s construction company. Greg has built and remodeled homes and buildings “from the ground up.” Knowing how dwellings/building are built facilitates his ability to understand his product whether it’s a single-family home, an apartment complex or a commercial building. Real estate requires detailed knowledge of the product and how it’s made, this helps me represent my product as both a listing agent and to Buyers as a selling agent.
Greg entered real estate after completing a B.S. degree in Accounting at the University of San Francisco and spent time working for Ernst & Young right after college. His broad knowledge and understanding of the financial side of real estate transactions comes from this, “two years in public accounting was like serving another apprenticeship but, this time on the financial side (as opposed to construction) as I spent most of my time working in the Banking/Real Estate/Lumber sector of my former firm’s Client base”.
Career Success: In early 1987 Greg merged his past experiences and acumen with a career in real estate by joining Cornish & Carey and immediately attained success as a nominee for “Rookie of the Year” and Top Producer awards every year thereafter. Then, in 1997 Cornish & Carey was absorbed by another company and left to establish the Mid-Peninsula offices of Alain Pinel Realtors. Greg has enjoyed over 29 years of success in real estate. He has been in the top echelon of production since the start of his career and currently ranks in the top 5% of all Compass agents.
