In 1977, Hilary's father developed a home site and vineyards in Yountville, the heart of Napa Valley's renowned Stags Leap District. Hilary is a native Californian, born in Berkeley and raised in Piedmont. She began her undergraduate studies at University of San Francisco and Academy of Art College, completing her Bachelor of Arts degree in fine arts and French at University of Nevada-Reno.
