Jim brings to Compass a wealth of experience, skill, dedication, and professionalism. He grew up in a large family with a military parent, moving state-to-state and country-to-country into his early college years. His mother and uncle were real estate agents and brokers respectively in the mid-West and were early influencers on Jim’s real estate involvement. He began buying and selling properties for his young family after moving to California in the early ’80s. He started part-time while following one of his bucket list dreams of becoming an engineer and building earth and space-based platforms with Lockheed-Martin, Globalstar, & SSL (Maxar). His success in crafting and negotiating solutions with those Silicon Valley legends allowed him to buy and sell in-state and out-of-state properties for over 35 years and solidified his knowledge of the real estate processes, marketing techniques, and negotiation strategies while taking care of his family of four. He is a member of the National Association of Realtors, California Association of Realtors, and the Silicon Valley Association of Realtors. He is blessed with two beautiful daughters, Sunny and Terri, now both approaching 40. Jim resides in Santa Cruz with Rana, his wife of 42 years. On weekends and evenings Jim can be found enjoying time with his family, friends, Veteran groups, amateur radio clubs, Scouts, churches, dive groups, and many others in both Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. Jim enjoys DIY projects, hiking, skin diving, target shooting, and travel when the season allows.

He has a great team to make selling seem effortless and his goal is to get you where you want to be on time. He also consults with buyers who want guidance to find a great lending solution, miss nothing in the market, and avoid overpaying for their purchased property. His goal is to have you pre-approved quickly by a great lender and then to guide you through the home buying process to make sure you get a chance to see everything available, eliminate what you don’t want, and get what you want and where you want to be. Jim also consults with business and commercial clients using 1031 exchanges. His goal is for his team to make your exchange smooth and put you on your way to a stronger cap rate. He works with in-state and out-of-state realtors in today’s hottest markets. Having the right team is crucial which means working with the best contractors in their specialized fields, architects, civil engineers, attorneys, CPAs, financial advisers, mortgage brokers, insurance brokers, still and drone photographers, title and escrow people. Jim’s goal is for your experience to be exceptional from beginning to end.
