Shayna Kusumoto

Shay is a lifelong O‘ahu resident who brings a thoughtful, grounded approach to real estate. She’s been investing in real estate since 2002, alongside building creative and service-based businesses with her husband, Dave. Together they’ve grown 9th Ave Studio, a marketing and design agency, HISessions, a local music platform, and FIXIT O‘ahu, a handyman home repair business.

FIXIT has given Shay a very practical, behind-the-scenes understanding of homes—what tends to come up in inspections, which repairs matter most, and how to prepare a property for sale without overdoing it. That experience goes hand in hand with real estate and allows her to guide clients realistically, efficiently, and with their best interests in mind.

Over the years, Shay has also worked closely with many of Hawai‘i’s leading real estate firms, supporting marketing, branding, and content behind the scenes. Seeing how properties are positioned—and how buyers respond—has shaped how she advises clients today. She understands both the emotional and strategic sides of a transaction and helps clients navigate decisions with clarity and confidence.

Clients appreciate Shay’s calm, organized style and clear communication. She listens carefully, takes good notes, and follows through. Rather than pushing for quick decisions, she focuses on being a steady, trusted advisor—someone clients feel comfortable calling with questions big or small.

Shay holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Washington and a master’s degree in Communications from Wheaton Graduate School. She has lived in Seattle and Chicago and spent time studying in China, experiences that broadened how she connects with people from different backgrounds.

Outside of real estate, Shay is joyfully married and a parent to three teenagers. She surfs when the conditions are right, dances hula, loves long walks with friends, and values faith, wellness, and community.
