About Troy

Troy's passion for ensuring smooth, mutually beneficial real estate transactions shines through in his position as Sales Manager for Compass' Alameda, Oakland and Berkeley offices. Many agents already relied on Troy as a mentor during his 20 years as a REALTOR® and 4 years as a Broker Associate before he assumed his current role, finding his wealth of information and collaborative nature helpful in working through challenging transactions. As Sales Manager, Troy is able to focus entirely on these relationships, and he very much enjoys the opportunity to encourage and share best practices with his fellow REALTORS® to guide them with integrity through the ever-increasing complexity of the real estate world.

Even before becoming a REALTOR® in 2002, Troy realized that buying and selling real estate is one of the biggest financial decisions a person will ever make. He is proud to be part of the industry that plays such a large role in enabling people to accumulate wealth, and believes it is our responsibility to help everyone, including those who have historically been shut out of real estate opportunities, to enjoy the benefits of home ownership.

Troy is well respected in the East Bay real estate community. He was elected President of the Alameda Association of REALTORS® in 2011 and received the Alameda Association of REALTORS® “REALTOR® of the Year” Award for 2016. This prestigious honor, awarded by a vote of the entire membership, indicates a high level of integrity and enthusiasm in service to the industry and the community. Troy was also chosen to represent the real estate community as a member and President of the East Bay Regional Data Multiple Listing Service (EBRD MLS) Board. Most recently, Troy served on The Bay East Association of Realtor’s Board of Directors and the Bay East MLS committee as a Chairperson and committee member.

Most importantly, Troy’s clients enjoy working with him and quickly realize he represents their interests effectively, thoroughly, and with complete integrity.

"We were referred to Troy through some friends that bought a house in Alameda 2 years prior. We initially had a different realtor but it wasn't working out and after the glowing recommendation our friends gave us about Troy, we decided to use him instead. I am so glad we did! We were looking for a fixer and had a pretty tight budget and were determined to stay in Alameda. Even though it took over a year, we eventually found the perfect place for us on Bay Farm Island. We got really lucky and because Troy was so savvy and on top of his game, he was able to show us a place that wasn't even listed on MLS. We were only among a few families that saw it and we won the bid- finally! Without Troy, we would have never even looked at this "diamond in the rough". After we won the bid, he worked diligently and tirelessly through the closing process to completion. We closed on time and he even referred us to some great people to help us with the much needed renovations. He has done quite a bit of renovating himself so he was a great resource. I would say Troy is very patient, resourceful, professional, kind, diligent, and calm under pressure. He is also very accommodating, even coming to our house to do a lot of the paperwork- kids running around and all. I cannot recommend him enough -don't hesitate to use Troy as your realtor." - Corrie

"Troy Staten was the listing agent on a property that just closed in Alameda. I am the mortgage loan office who did the financing for the Buyers. My customers used a different Realtor from Alameda to represent them. As the original closing date started approaching I was getting nervous as I wasn't sure if I was going to get loan approval on time. Troy and my Buyers agent worked out a five day extension. When it was evident I was not going to be able to close the loan by the end of the 1st extension date I started to call and communicate that I knew we were going to get there but that we simply needed a tiny bit more time. Troy was so understanding and helpful in calming me down as by this point I knew my Buyers were VERY concerned. He was able to negotiate a second extension that gave us enough time to get it done. I got final loan approval as promised and the deal closed one day early of the second extension date. He handled the whole process like a pro's pro. He has a great demeanor under difficult circumstances and is the kind of guy you want on your team when involved in a real estate transaction. He handled the pressure that always comes at closing time with ease. I really enjoyed working with him and even though I live in Seattle, if I lived in Alameda or anywhere nearby, I would not hesitate to use him to represent me in a purchase or sale transaction." - Kevin

"Since I had no experience in selling a home in this area, I had some trepidation about starting the process. However, Troy really made it easy for me because he assumed responsibility of anything that needed to be done within the condo which was an enormous relief to me. He arranged for any repairs, upgrades and even went so far as drilling/replacing a lock on a storage unit himself! In addition, the sale happened quickly with a short closing and I had a planned vacation that could not be changed which could have been a big problem. But Troy saved the day by going above and beyond. I signed the paperwork the day before I left. I would certainly use Troy for any future real estate needs and highly recommend him." - Rosemary

My wife and I have now used Troy three times to buy and sell property in the East Bay. In 2018, we purchased our first home, a condo in San Leandro. In 2022, we purchased a single family home in Concord and subsequently sold the San Leandro condo. Troy helped us at every step of the way, quickly getting us disclosure reports for properties we were interested in so we could maximize crucial open house windows to focus on properties that would be a good fit for our family. Our budget was not particularly high for the Bay Area and we admittedly wanted a lot (move-in ready 2000+ sf home with about a quarter acre of land), but Troy made it happen. Later, when selling our former home, Troy gave us great advice about what cost-effective updates could be made quickly on a limited budget to boost sale price. Troy also lined up contractors and dealt with making sure they could access the property which saved us a lot of stress and time. My wife and I will continue recommending Troy to family and friends as an effective, honest, and reliable professional.
