Description

Solid brick house built in 1940 for sale . This 1769 sq ft house has a large full
basement and a large attic. This is an
elegant stand alone house that sits
on a double lot and no expense was
spared when this house was built. All the doors in the house are solid
wood with crystal door knobs. I’m not sure what type of wood it is ,
maybe Oak or Mahogany, I’m not
sure as I’m not an expert regarding
that, but the doors are a dark wood,
these are thick heavy doors from a

that, but the doors are a dark wood,
these are thick heavy doors from a
time long gone. There is brass/ copper plumbing and
massive radiators through out. Two large oil tanks , a car or motorcycle
port and a 4 car garage with a pit. This house has a lot of windows which
make this house very cheerful. There is a lovely bathroom upstairs
and a toilet in the basement. There is a massive old sink in the kitchen
with a large radiator underneath it. This house was built during an
affluent time in this town’s history
and the man who had this house
built had money to burn as he
had all the wood personally
inspected and stamped with
his name before leaving the
lumberyard. When you’re in the basement and
you look at the beams you will
notice thick solid beams of wood
that’s unattainable these days. When you examine this house you
will realize that’s one if the most well
built Classic homes in America. This is a real house, made out of
solid brick and solid wood with
brass and copper plumbing. Not like the cheap houses built these
days with particle board and pinewood
and cheap plastic plumbing etc. This house is for someone that
appreciates old world craftsmanship. When I bought this house about
5 years ago, I wanted alot of space. As I have been living in a tiny apartment
in NYC for 20 years, but I went
overboard, it’s too much space
for my wife and I, so I bought a
house that’s half the size of this. My mom thought the house was
spectacular when she first viewed
it 5 years ago but she said the
street it’s on looked like Skid Row,
with some scrappy and derelict homes. Since I’ve been there, 4 houses
have been renovated and there’s
2 more houses being renovated
now, this street is getting nicer. This house is on a mountain,
so there isn’t any flooding problems . I remember a few years ago there was
2 days of torrential non-stop rain
and there was only a trickle of water
in the basement. The house is on a narrow one way street,
which was another reason I bought it,
as I didn’t want to live main thoroughfare
with big trucks , noise , traffic etc. About 1 car per hour comes down
this street during the day. The taxes are very low , somewhere
around $ 2000. This would be a
lovely home for a family or for someone
who owns a motorcycle or someone
that has a lot of cars. There is a
mechanic’s pit in the garage to work on
your cars and a piano in the basement. I don’t have any pics of the inside of
the garage, because I can find the
keys , but it’s a big garage. The roof on the front porch is leaking, so
some work needs to be done with that and
the wall by the the car/motorcycle port is
bellowing. Besides that , the house is in
very good shape for an 83 year old house. This house is so solid , it can last for 500
years if maintained properly. It’s being
sold “ as is “ for $160,000. I can be reached at:
