The ceiling is a timber frame work of art, using very sophisticated joinery work. The main cross beams are reclaimed Douglas fir salvaged from an old warehouse in Oakland. Timber frame joists were used to create the trusses that open to the ridge skylights.

The kitchen, with its high-end appliances, features a countertop made from solid 2” thick planks of rare African Padauk hardwood.

The flooring in both bathrooms is teak and holly vinyl that is used in marine application on yachts. The floors in the rest of the home are engineered Koa wood. Most of the walls are bead board to give the home a ‘cottage’ feel.

The floating home is uniquely stabilized with 8 large, custom-ordered, air-filled adjustable tanks, secured to the home by rough sawn redwood decking, providing stability and aesthetic value.

In 2018, this home was transferred to Svendsen* for hull maintenance and repair. Wood was replaced as needed and new fiberglass coating was applied. In addition, floatations were custom built to give the home additional stability. These upgrades serve to extend the lifespan of the hull extensively.
